Boil Water Advisory Lifted

The City of West Columbia has ended the boil water advisory for all water customers in the following area: Bensmin Drive, Dalewood Drive, Kirkwood Drive, Morningdale Drive, Sandalwood Drive, Shampy Street, the 2800 through 2825 block of Franklin Street and the 2700 through the 2900 block of Rainbow Drive.

The water supply has been thoroughly tested and boiling water is no longer necessary. Water customers were asked to boil water as a precaution when a water line broke on Thursday, April 16, 2015.

Water customers may check the city of West Columbia website at for updates on the boil water advisory.

Water customers may also contact customer service at City Hall between 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at 803.791.1880. Emergencies occurring after hours and on weekends and holidays should be reported to the West Columbia Police Department at 803.794.0721.

Based on the frequent line breaks and extreme inconvenience to residents, especially those of us at home all day, and this area in particular based on announced advisories has seemed to have by far the most problems in the 15 years I've lived here, I was very disappointed our lines weren't among the first repaired based on the area's needing it most. But now that the richer part of our town was first taken care of, how long before the rest of us can expect our water lines to be replaced?

Not knowing the water was off and the necessity of nature even if I had, my toilet blew out through the top and flooded my bathroom. I cleaned it up the best I could, but who is responsible for fixing any water damage if this becomes necessary? I know from experience that insurance does not cover water damage.
