The Town of Springdale is accepting applications for the position of Patrolman. The salary range is $30,000-33,000/year plus benefits and a vehicle. Preference will be given to applicants with active Class I Certification from the SC Criminal Justice Academy. Applicant must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid SC driver's license. Applicant shall be able to successfully complete the requirements of the SC Criminal Justice Academy, background check, credit check, psychological profile, and drug screening. Applicant must possess a high school diploma or GED. Special consideration may be given to applicants with grant writing or community policing experience. Springdale Building Official
Seeking a part-time building official to provide inspection and plan review services for less than 10 hours per week.
Description of Duties
Reviews construction plans for industrial, commercial, and residential projects for building, electrical, mechanical, fire, plumbing, gas, and all life safety issues. Ensures that all occupancy requirements and classifications are met for the given project as defined in current editions of nationally recognized codes. Performs comprehensive building plan review for all commercial and residential projects as prescribed by the building codes using the ICC Building Code, National Electrical Code, ICC Plumbing Code, ICC Fuel and Gas Code, ICC Mechanical Code, American National Standard Accessible and Usable, ICC Existing Building Code. Performs building inspector activities for commercial and residential projects using all required I-codes. Provides residential plan review activities using the International Residential Code. Work with architects, engineers and general public to provide consultation and guidance for new construction and renovation projects on plan review and related codes and ordinances. Monitor construction/renovation to ensure that inspections are conducted in an efficient, effective and consistent manner. Provides oral and written communication to owners, consumers, contractors, architects, state agencies and building code agencies concerning building code application and review information. Support the permit coordinator and other staff members with questions pertaining to reviews and permits.Prepare and distribute to appropriate parties written reports documenting plan review process and revisions required for approval.
Requires a high school diploma, GED, or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge, and experience. Requires over six years of experience as an architect, engineer, building contractor, or building inspector. A valid South Carolina driver’s license is required. Prefer a candidate with a certification with International Codes Council as Commercial Building Inspector, Residential Building Inspector, and Building Plan Review Certification is required or Certified Building Official or Master Code Professional and licensed by the South Carolina Building Codes Council as a Building Official. Candidate must be able to obtain certified building official designation within 24 months of employment. Once certifications are received it will be a requirement of this position for the employee to keep all certifications current by obtaining the required continuing education credits required by ICC and the State of South Carolina Building Code Council.
